Question Number 1:
How many Adult or Paediatric cannulation procedures (Peripheral Cannula passed) were done in your trust in the past financial year? This can be estimated figure (from number of cannulas purchased) or actual if any such records are kept by the trust
 
Answer To Question 1:
We are unable to provide an exact figure as this is not coded on admitted patient care records.
 
Question Number 2:
Do you use any form of prepacked cannulation kits that provide all appropriate equipment needed? These are manufactured outside the hospital and delivered as one whole pack, or the items are purchased / used separately.
 
Answer To Question 2:
No
 
Question Number 3:
Which type of cannula is used / preferred at your trust or hospital? There are two types – one with safety mechanism E.g., BD or Vygon or ones without safety. The safety cannulas are designed to prevent needle stick injuries.
 
Answer To Question 3:
Safety Cannula is preferred option, some paediatric cannulas may still be non-safety
 
Question Number 4:
Does the trust / hospital use any particular cannula more than others and if so what is the name of manufacturer(s) and breakdown of their supply e-g leading manufactures are BD, Vygon, etc

What is the total number of hospital beds you have within your trust and its occupied capacity?
 
Answer To Question 7:
Our total number of General and Acute beds is 401 adults and 16 paediatric. Our latest bed occupancy was 98.5% for adults and 68.75% for paediatrics.
 
Question Number 8:
What is the total number of annual attendance in the following departments:

i) Accident and Emergency

ii) Surgical Assessments Unit

iii) Medical Day Unit / Medical Admission Units
 
Answer To Question 8:
i) Total Type 1 ED attendances in 2022/23 was 50,335

ii) Total Number of attendances to SAU in 2022/23 was 3,832

iii) Total Number of attendances to AMU in 2022/23 was 6,916

 
Question Number 9:
What is the annual budget for clinical waste disposal
 
Answer To Question 9:
22/23 the budget for that year is £426,141
 
Question Number 10:
Do you have any figures in weight (tons) of clinical waste disposed of by your trust?
 
Answer To Question 10:
The clinical waste tonnage for April 2022 – Mar 2023 was 549 tonnes
