Safeguarding

Statement of Assurance

Monitor, the independent regulator for NHS Foundation Trusts, requires all NHS Foundation Trusts to publish a statement of assurance that it has the necessary arrangements in place around safeguarding children to register with the Care Quality Commission.

Child protection and the safeguarding of children is considered of the highest priority at SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ and following our assessment, the Board is satisfied that it meets the statutory requirement around Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks ; that child protection policies and systems are up-to-date and robust; that safeguarding children training is in place with systems to monitor compliance; that the Trust has identified roles and responsibilities for named professionals; The Board itself receives regular reports on safeguarding arrangements within the Trust.

The Trust also has a policy for identifying and following up children who fail to attend outpatient appointments. The Trust regularly undertakes a programme of audits for its policies, procedures and training.

The Board level executive for safeguarding children is Judy Dyos, Director of Nursing. The Named professionals for Safeguarding within the organisation are as follows:

  • Named Doctor is Katrina Pettit
  • Named Nurse is Emma Mould
  • Named Midwife is Laura Ware.

Our staff are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children and I can confirm and demonstrate that the necessary arrangements are in place as laid down under section 11 of the Children's Act (2004).
