Following your treatment, you will be put on a follow-up pathway so we can monitor your progress and check for any signs of reoccurrence.

You may be put on one of the following pathways:

Follow up appointments further to Chemoradiotherapy treatment ending:

Your medical team at University Hospital Southampton will put you on a follow up pathway to monitor you so they can spot any signs of reoccurrence as soon as possible.

The follow-up appointments for anal cancer patients following chemoradiotherapy, are as follows after your final treatment:

If you have surgery following chemotherapy treatment for your anal cancer then you may follow a slightly different follow-up regime which will be decided by your team.

Remote follow up - Supported self management pathway (SSMP)

Supported self-management puts you in control of your care

In the past it has been traditional for patients who have completed their treatment for bowel cancer to have regular follow-up appointments with their surgeon, clinical nurse specialist or oncologist. Although some patient find these appointments useful and reassuring, many find them a source of anxiety that can slow down the process of moving on after their treatment.听

Moving forward clinic

As part of your supported self management follow up, you will be invited to attend a Moving Forward Clinic run by members of the colorectal team. This will be an educational session providing you with information advice for you health and wellbeing in the future. We strongly recommend you attend this session.听

Nurse led Follow up pathway

The nurse led follow up pathway follows the same pathway as supported self management pathway (SSMP) but is aimed to support those with greater symptoms following treatment or who may need extra ongoing support.听

Low grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN) follow up - Basingstoke watch and wait

Low Grade Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm (LAMN) are tumours that arise from the lining of the appendix. For LAMN patients who have had surgery and require no further treatment, you will be put on the 'Basingstoke watch and wait' follow up programme.
