Ongoing Care and Follow-Up Appointments

After surgery has been completed, you may be placed on a 鈥渇ollow-up鈥 pathway, according to the NICE guidelines. This will be discussed with you by the Clinical Team at an appropriate time, if required.

The length of your follow-up will depend upon your diagnosis and staging. Whether follow-up is required and how long this may be, is determined on the depth and stage of your cancer.

You will be placed on a follow up pathway according to NICE guidelines.

During the appointment you may have a 鈥榮kin check鈥. You will be asked to take off your clothes down to your underwear and get into a hospital gown. The Clinician will look over your skin for any other suspicious lesions and will check your lymph nodes for any new lumps or bumps.

Depending on the stage of your skin cancer, you may also have surveillance scans to check for any signs of cancer in the rest of your body.

If you have any concerns in between appointments, you can call the Skin Cancer Support Team to discuss these. If necessary, we will move your appointment forward for an earlier review.

You can ask the Skin Cancer Pathway Navigator (01722 429056) if you have any questions about your follow-up protocol.

The following videos may also help you with self-checks of your lymph nodes and moles:
