Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

Same day emergency care (SDEC) is the provision of same day care for emergency patients who would otherwise be admitted to hospital.Ìý

In SDEC, we treat many common presentations and conditions for example; headaches, chest pain, shortness of breath, suspected blood clots, skin infections, kidney infections, abnormal bloods, and liver problems.Ìý

ÌýWe receive referrals from a variety of sources including community services such as GP’s, 111 and Ambulance Services. Patients in the Emergency Department will be considered for same day emergency care, if appropriate. Patients who have had a recent admission may be seen for a review following discharge.Ìý

An assessment by the SDEC team will always be carried out before any scans, or investigations are requested. This is to ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment for your problem.ÌýÌý
